After starting Internet Explorer error: A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer
Original title: Internet Explorer Search Provider problem
When I start Internet Explorer for the first time after booting, I get an error starting with:
"A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer..."
When I click OK, it takes me to the Manage Add-ons screen.
After selecting a search provider, IE runs fine.
I'm running IE 9 64-bit on Win 7 Pro 64-bit.
This happened also in IE 8 running on Win 7 Pro 64-bit.
I updated to IE 9 thinking the error would go away, but it hasn't.
I get this error even after a clean boot with just the Microsoft services running.
I've searched the internet for a solution and it seems to affect a
lot of users.
Many claim some registry editing will take care of the problem but that hasn't been the case with my situation.
