Troubleshoot:Auto increment of numbers depending on prefix Error

Auto increment of numbers depending on prefix

Hi guys,

is there any way of having an auto number based on a prefix code selected in a drop down menu on the same form?

Basically what I want to do is separate all my materials into various categories and have an auto number for each of those catagories.

eg CLD001; CLD002; ELE001; INS001; CLD003 etc

Best Regards and Thanks again

DM

Hi,

Presumably you have a talbe named table1, and have the following data in it.

f1ID     F2Word
1        EA
1        ST
1        ZG
2        CR
2        ZG

Then in the AfterUpdate event of drop down menu, add the following code:

For example:

Private Sub F2Word_AfterUpdate()
If NewRecord Then
T1:
    Me.MaxNum = Nz(DMax("[f1ID]", "Table1", "[f2Word]=""" & [Forms]![Form1]![F2Word] & """"), 0)
    Me.f1ID = Me.MaxNum + 1
    Me.f3.SetFocus
Else
   If Me.F2Word = Me.F2Word.OldValue Then
   '   Nothing
   Else
      GoTo T1
   End If
End If

End Sub

Don't Download Malware

Where are you getting the download?

There are malicious people who download valid copies of a popular download, modify the file with malicious software, and then upload the file with the same name. Make sure you are downloading from the developer's web page or a reputable company.

Cancel or deny any automatic download

Some sites may automatically try start a download or give the appearance that something needs to be installed or updated before the site or video can be seen. Never accept or install anything from any site unless you know what is downloading.

Avoid advertisements on download pages

To help make money and pay for the bandwidth costs of supplying free the software, the final download page may have ads. Watch out for anything that looks like advertisements on the download page. Many advertisers try to trick viewers into clicking an ad with phrases like "Download Now", "Start Download", or "Continue" and that ad may open a separate download.
